Services > Spirometry Training Courses

Micro Medical training courses are held at various locations in the U.K, we are pleased to announce that courses are now approved by the Royal College of Nursing.

The one day seminars are a pleasurable learning experience with a balance of theoretical and practical "hands on" spirometry input, utilising the latest presentation technology to make the information interesting and memorable.

An important cornerstone of the seminars is the practical consideration of the Guidelines for the Measurement of Respiratory Function (Respiratory Medicine 1994) and its application to operational procedures within the delegates own workplace.

Training Sessions include:

  • Working Towards Good Practice in Physiological Measurement - defining the objectives of spirometry
  • The key competencies and under pinning knowledge requirements of spirometry
  • What is a Good Manoeuvre?
  • Principles & procedures
  • Breathing physiology and the measurements of spirometry
  • Measurement tools and airflow transducer technology - basic spirometry
  • The role of predicted values
  • Measurement - the need to see the whole picture - flow volume curves, full loops and mid flow readings
  • Spirometry in health screening and assessment
  • Case studies and practical measurement
  • Where next - strengths and learning needs identification

A comprehensive A4 loose leaf seminar manual is supplied, as is attendance certification. RCN certification will be sent direct to delegates upon completion of the course.

Micro Medical are pleased to offer in-house and on-site training as and where required, please contact
