Micro Medical portable spirometers proved yet again to be equipment of choice for doctors working in extreme conditions.
A group of Russian doctors organised an expedition to test the population in one of the most remote villages of the Far East of the Russian Federation. The local population do not have easy access to healthcare and their poor diet and harsh environmental and economic conditions have a negative effect on their general health. Their limited diet is based mainly on fishing and hunting and in the local shop the only vegetables available are beetroot and potatoes with practically no fruit, which causes malnutrition and vitamin deficiency.
Pictured are doctors performing a lung function test using a Micro Medical
SuperSpiro spirometer on 77 years old Zoya Chekurmina at her home. Despite the fact that Zoya has seen a doctor only seven times in her whole life, she had no difficulties in performing the test.
The portability and ease of use of Micro Medical spirometers proved to be ideal for this project making it possible to bring the medical care even to remotest of places.
